Topics

Developments in the field of digitalization are dynamic and diverse. In the eTeach network, we deal with media topics that are important for media-enriched teaching, learning and testing in order to be able to classify innovations well from a scientific point of view and to advise and support teachers well. In expert panels and working groups, we open up perspectives, pool knowledge and compile materials and information.

Current topics at a glance

Artificial intelligence in the university

Since the publication of ChatGPT by OpenAI at the end of November 2022 at the latest, all areas of social life and the education sector in particular have been confronted with fundamental questions, challenges and opportunities relating to teaching, learning and testing. In the eTeach network, we have developed our own positioning, compile information and expertise, offer courses and provide tips on AI in university teaching.

Media-enriched testing

Formats, methods and applications for digital testing have become increasingly important during the coronavirus pandemic. There is a great need for information and further training at Thuringian universities, which teachers can use to adapt established learning and examination scenarios to current situations and at the same time open up new, alternative options for examinations. The eTeach Network Thuringia bundles relevant information and offers for teachers.

Learning platforms

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are prepared in analog or digital form and can be used and edited free of charge depending on the OER license. In the eTeach network, we deal with the possibilities for media-enriched teaching and are in contact with important players and institutions.

Ideas and goals

eTutors are students who specifically support lecturers in using digital forms of teaching and learning and integrating digital tools into their teaching. In addition, eTutors also advise and support other students.

During the course, formats for media-enriched teaching and suitable methods are taught. In particular, digital tools (especially video, AI tools, the Moodle learning management system) are used, digital examination formats are presented and the handling of copyright and data protection in teaching is explained.

Ideas and goals

In the area of media-enhanced examinations, the eTeach network aims to create a comprehensive reservoir of knowledge about digital examination formats and the integration of artificial intelligence into examination practices at Thuringian universities, to actively share this knowledge in the community and to continuously develop it further. The aim is to support teaching staff and university management in an advisory capacity and to enable them to make effective use of the potential of digital media in examination scenarios.

Ideas and goals

Learning management systems are an indispensable resource and daily working tool for teachers at colleges and universities. By integrating digital tools and interactive functions, they offer an efficient way of conveying teaching content and supporting learning processes. In Thuringia, Moodle in particular is an established learning management system at universities. With the Virtual Campus Thuringia (VCT), a state-wide Moodle instance is also available that will simplify cross-university teaching and learning.

We would like to support lecturers across all universities in getting to know the various functions/possibilities of Moodle better and integrating them into their teaching in a didactically meaningful way.
