If students are given more complex tasks, it is advisable to divide them into groups and have them work on the task in small groups.

They should also be able to prepare and present the results in the group. The group offers the individual a sense of security and protects the individual.

General conditions

Small group work can be used in groups of different sizes and in different types of courses. It also offers students the opportunity to actively participate in lectures.

Consequences

When working in groups of 3 to 5 students, the participants complement each other in their competences and can thus contribute in different ways to various subtasks.
In addition to the exchange of information and the necessary communication, numerous group dynamic processes take place during the joint work, which lead the students to additional learning outcomes.
