It is typical for law students to work on cases. If a connection can be made to the students' lifeworld, i.e. if they are personally affected, a higher level of sensitivity and a deeper understanding can be achieved.
Cases are presented for discussion in lectures and exercises. The lecturer selects or constructs these according to facts or evidence, so that topics are taken up that allow a personal reference to everyday life, initial practical or professional experience.
A typical procedure is outlined for working on the cases, with the teacher otherwise taking on the role of a moderator. Students discuss the case under the question "Who wants what from whom?", just as they would have to discuss it later in their professional lives.
