Courses need regular phase changes. Otherwise there is a risk of loss of concentration and student participation. Phases of around 15 to 20 minutes in length are recommended.

A typical course can be structured as follows:

  • "Here I am" - Welcome and conscious arrival in the course, introduction to the contents of the course / overview in a sheet
  • Short phase of relaxation, e.g. through relaxation exercises, pausing or reflecting on what has been achieved (this phase should be repeated regularly)
  • Maximum 15 minutes contributions, information, lecture by the teacher
  • Change to an exercise, group work, active participation of the students
  • Repetition of the phases
  • At the end: summary of the results, short evaluation (e.g. see Teaching concept "Evaluation with stone and light")

General conditions

In principle, all courses should follow this basic principle of structuring. The phases can be adapted to the requirements and framework conditions.
