Students not only have the opportunity to carry out software-supported calculations, they also learn how to use software that is typical for the industry. They gain an impression of the essential work steps and processes and master simple calculations (e.g. bookings) with the software.

The software already provides small and medium-sized cases for familiarisation. These can be used as a basis for the development of case studies/examples for the course.

The case is prepared in advance by the teacher and then presented in the course. The first steps in processing the case in the software can be explained using screenshots and PowerPoint presentations. In addition, the use of the software can be demonstrated in the seminar.

Initial experiments with the software can be carried out together with the teacher. In addition to the case studies, the EAP software (example 2) provides very well-structured and clearly presented instructions that can be used by students.

The students will then work independently with the software. The teachers are there to help, especially when it comes to correcting errors.

Problem

Solutions

General conditions

Exercise at computer workstations:
Example 1: Bachelor students in the 2nd semester
Example 2: Bachelor's students with the option of specialising in the Master's degree programme

In example 2, the case studies are partly taken up again in the examination and supplemented by questions on theoretical principles.

Consequences

As the software is a professional solution for which a fee is charged, students do not have licences for their own computers. Learning and using the software is therefore concentrated on course times or times when the computer workstations are freely accessible.

Materials

Suitable computer workstations with licences for the software should be available for processing.
