In the sense of a working agreement for the time of the course (over the semester, during the block course), it seems sensible to clarify teaching as a joint task of teacher and student.

As an introduction, and also as part of the rules for a course, teachers can transfer some of the responsibility for the success of the course, and above all for learning success, to the students. This should be stated openly and the typical procedure in the course and the resulting roles of teacher and students should be clarified. In addition, and as a result of this, forms and rules of communication should be clarified.

Solutions

General conditions

This form offers a very personal introduction to a course at the beginning of the semester or at the start of a block course. It can make a decisive contribution to a good working atmosphere.

Consequences

The clarification of roles in the course and in the learning process requires a personal statement from the teacher. They are required to openly present their tasks, rights and duties, as well as their ideas of the students' tasks, rights and duties. If a personal connection to the course and a personal interest in learning success become clear, this has a positive effect.

Openly thematising teaching, one's own teaching philosophy and roles in the process must be a personal concern for the teacher and not unpleasant. Otherwise it will be untrustworthy and inefficient.
